If you have started a new business or are rebranding your business you may be wondering how much it will cost to build a custom website? Every website is different, so there is no quick answer. But we can give you a general guideline to what the cost will be.
How to lower the cost of your website
If you provide all of the information up front, the website is much faster to build since we know exactly what we are working with. The information can be quickly pieced together and the pages will be produced quickly.
How to raise the cost of your website
Send all of your information slowly, in many different emails. Each time we receive it, we add little bits to the website but we never have the ‘big picture’ of what you do. We have also had a few clients that start their new website and then don’t provide the information to put on each page. In this instance, we have to research what we think they do and add it to their content. this definitely adds time to the website development, therefore increasing the price.
How to stay on budget with your website
All estimates are based on you as a client, providing content to enter into the website; your logo, images, content and possibly graphics or data. The estimates are created based on the time that it will take to complete 1, 2, 3, 7 or more pages.
Repeated modifications to the website does adjust the cost as it does affect the time to complete the website. (Think of this as you would if you were hiring a painter; changing your mind on the wall colour after painting the walls does add additional work for the painter, therefore additional cost.)

Below is a table with several different options to give you a general idea of what it would cost to build a 3 page website, 7 page website etc.

Additional Costs for Building a Website
Hosting, Domain & SSL certificate
Websites need to be hosted, or stored, on a server to be displayed on the internet. There are many different hosts available and many different options to consider such as price, speed, security and functionality. For more information on Hosting please read Types of Hosting.
A domain is the user-friendly address of your website. You can use your business name or use keywords to help people find you like professionalgolfclubs.com. Having an SSL certificate is a must, it adds encryption to your website so users can safely enter their information on E commerce websites or on a contact form or newsletter signup form. Some hosting packages include SSL certificates.
Hosting, domains, SSL certificates, Firewalls add additional cost to your website and renew annually.
Premium Themes & Plugins
Paid plugins or Themes are additional cost to the client.
Images from Stock websites are also additional cost to the client.
Exemptions
Custom code (javascript) or modifications to the theme structure are not included in any estimate above.
Deposits are required to begin website design
Clients are required to pay a minimum 35% deposit of estimated cost up front before development begins. When work/cost reaches the deposit amount, another deposit is required for the next 35% to ensure minimal amount is owing at the completion of project.
